The Vision and Story Behind De Marquet

Raffaella has always embodied the spirit of an entrepreneur, guided by creativity, passion and an instinctive attraction to new challenges. Years spent traveling constantly for work, combined with a lifelong fascination for fashion, eventually inspired her to create De Marquet, a handbag brand named in honor of her Viennese great‑grandmother.

The brand’s signature piece, the Night&Day, reflects her vision of modern elegance. Its interchangeable covers make it a favorite among frequent travelers, offering both practicality and a more conscious, sustainable way of choosing quality over excess. Crafted entirely in Italy by skilled Tuscan artisans, the Night&Day has also become a platform for artistic expression. Raffaella actively seeks collaborations with both established and emerging artists, viewing each cover as a space for creativity. Many of these collaborations have grown into meaningful friendships, a testament to her genuine interest in people and their stories.

What inspires her most is understanding what drives others, what they believe in and what they stand for. She deeply values the spark that pushes someone to change direction and pursue a dream. This belief continues to guide her work, and she hopes it inspires others as well.

Visitors to the De Marquet world are invited to experience the passion and dedication that Raffaella and her team pour into every creation.

Sustainability

Raffaella often reflects on how frequently the word sustainability is used today and how differently it can be interpreted. For her, its true meaning lies in cultivating awareness and choosing actions that create a positive impact, even when they seem small. From the very beginning, she made sustainability and social responsibility fundamental pillars of De Marquet’s product development. Choosing to produce in Italy was never about a label but about supporting local craftsmanship, which is why the brand’s workshops are located in the heart of Tuscany.

One of the most distinctive aspects of the atelier is its role as a reintegration facility. Around thirty percent of the team is composed of individuals facing physical or mental challenges, disabilities or difficult social circumstances. This commitment became even more meaningful during the COVID‑19 pandemic, when lockdowns threatened the stability of these jobs. To protect its people, the workshop temporarily shifted from producing bags and shoes to manufacturing masks. This decision not only preserved employment but also offered purpose and continuity while contributing to the wider community.
